How to appeal your SHA premium if it's too high
Got an SHA amount that doesn't match your income? Here's how the appeal works and what to prepare.

Many people opened their SHA account and found a monthly amount far above what they can afford. Usually this comes from the household details captured during registration. The good news: you can ask SHA to review it.
Why your amount may be high
- Household or income details were entered wrongly
- Someone else registered you and guessed some answers
- Your income has dropped since you registered
- Assets or household size were recorded incorrectly
What to prepare
- Your National ID number
- The phone number you registered SHA with
- Your current monthly SHA amount
- Honest, up-to-date details about your household and income
The general steps
- 1Check your current amount on *147# or the SHA portal.
- 2Choose the option to review or appeal your contribution (wording can change — look for 'appeal', 'review' or 'means testing').
- 3Update your household and income details truthfully.
- 4Submit and note any reference you receive.
- 5Check back for SHA's response.
Tip: Only SHA can approve a change. Anyone who promises a guaranteed reduction for a fee is not being honest with you.
