How to register for SHA (Social Health Authority)
SHA replaced NHIF. Here's how to register yourself and your family.

The Social Health Authority (SHA) took over from NHIF. Every Kenyan is expected to register. You can register yourself and add your spouse and children.
Ways to register
- Dial *147# on your phone and follow the prompts
- Use the SHA website / Afya Yangu portal
- Visit a Huduma Centre or SHA office
What you'll need
- Your National ID number
- A phone number registered in your name
- ID or birth certificate numbers of dependants
Steps using *147#
- 1Dial *147#.
- 2Select Register and enter your ID number.
- 3Confirm your details.
- 4Answer the household questions honestly — they determine your contribution.
- 5You'll receive an SMS confirming registration.
Tip: Adding dependants is often where people get stuck. Have their birth certificate numbers ready before you start.
